| Asilomar Pharmaceuticals |
| |
Asilomar Pharmaceuticals has staked an early claim to receptor-mediated
drug delivery to the peripheral nervous system (PNS). This company
is combining its proprietary "linker" chemistry technology
with off-patent (generic) pharma-ceuticals to treat PNS-related
disorders, like shingles, neuropathic pain, diabetic neuropathy,
and herpes. There are only marginally effective treatments or
none at all for these very large markets. Asilomar has patented
a "linker" chemistry which when conjugated with a
generic drug, the resulting conjugate is transported from the
end of a nerve up along its length, avoiding the blood-brain
barrier, and bringing the active drug to the neuronal cells
along the neural pathway. LanfearCapital invested alongside
Sears Capital, Asset Management, SBV Ventures and several angel
investors in the first round. LanfearCapital is a Strategic
Advisor to the company. |
